Projects in East Sussex are invited to apply for a cash boost

  • Published

Organisers of East Sussex projects that enhance the lives of residents are invited to apply for a share of a £25,000 cash pot.

East Sussex County Council has joined forces with the fundraising platform Crowdfunder to offer up to 10 projects a maximum of £2,500 each.

The five-week fundraising campaign will see public donations match funded, pound for pound, by the council.

Darrell Gale, director of public health in East Sussex, said it was a "great way for local projects to get the funding they need to get started".

The council said it was looking for projects that "promote cultural vitality, economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental sustainability across East Sussex".

Projects supported in last year's Crowdfund East Sussex campaign included a scheme providing beds for children in need and a wood recycling project in Rother that uses wood waste for community projects.

Mr Gale said: "The ‘donations doubled’ initiative is a fantastic way for organisations to reach their fundraising targets and I would encourage any local project which thinks they might fit the campaign criteria to apply.”

Applications are now open and must be received by midnight on 23 May.
