A second person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Sussex teenager, Sussex Police say.

Mustafa Momand, 17, was fatally stabbed in broad daylight in Queens Road, Brighton, on 5 October.

At Lewes Crown Court on Thursday Armin Mehdikhani-Sarvejahani, 16, was given a life sentence for murder.

Sussex Police said a 22-year-old man from Saltdean had been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in relation to Mustafa's death.

The trial at Lewes Crown Court had heard the killing happened over a £20,000 drug debt.

Following Thursday's sentencing, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "As part of the wider investigation into Mustafa's murder, on April 25, a 22-year-old man from Saltdean was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

"He has been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue."

Armin Mehdikhani-Sarvejahani was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years for Mustafa's murder on Thursday

At the sentencing the judge, Mr Justice Constable, said: "This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the very real dangers that await young people who get involved in dealing drugs.

"Of the appalling way in which young lives spiral quickly into effective servitude for the financial benefit of others and become treated as expendable, and most clearly, of the devastating consequences of ever more frequent knife crime."

Mehdikhani-Sarvejahani will serve at least 17 years for Mustafa's murder.
