England white-ball captain Jos Buttler and head coach Matthew Mott have some thinking to do.
All-rounder Ben Stokes has ruled himself out of England's T20 World Cup defence in the West Indies and United States in June to focus on his fitness and extended recovery from a knee operation.
It leaves England with a serious selection headache and question marks about how they will balance their side.
