Northamptonshire have signed South African top-order batter Matthew Breetzke for this summer's T20 Blast.

The 25-year-old was the leading scorer in the recent CSA T20 Challenge in his home country with 467 runs.

And he will fill the second overseas player slot for the Steelbacks alongside Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikander Raza.

"Matt is a very capable batter who will bring power, experience and some real determination to the side," head coach John Sadler told the club website., external

Breetzke has played 80 T20 matches in total, scoring over 2,000 runs, with a strike-rate of 131.82.

"I am really grateful for the opportunity," he said. "I hope to contribute a lot on and off the field during my time at the club."

Northants won the T20 Blast in 2013 and 2016 and start this year's competition with a home game against Derbyshire Falcons on 30 May.
