In Michael Olise, Crystal Palace may have their greatest player to represent the club in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old was the star of the show in the 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United to hand Palace their first ever league double over United.

Olise opened and ended the scoring at a rampant Selhurst Park as he left the field to a standing ovation from all corners.

It's clear to see why the France Under-21 international attracted interest from Chelsea last summer and is reportedly being watched ahead of the next transfer window.

His nine goals in 17 league appearances are superb stats for a player who is currently sat in 14th in the table.

Of course, Olise does not have the longevity of Wilfried Zaha but have his talents already surpassed that of his former team-mate?

Crystal Palace sealed a first league double over Manchester United with a rampant 4-0 win at Selhurst Park.

Michael Olise ran 20-yards under no challenge to eventually slot beyond Andre Onana to put Oliver Glasner's side in the lead after 13 minutes.

Jean-Philippe Mateta surged beyond Johnny Evans to finish emphatically for his sixth goal in a row on home turf.

Tyrick Mitchell tapped in from close range after a fine cross by Adam Wharton in the 58th minute and French youngster Olise capitalised on a Casemiro mistake to power a strike beyond a wanting Onana.

Here are the key facts and figures before Monday's game between Crystal Palace and Manchester United in the Premier League.

• Crystal Palace won 1-0 against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this campaign. They have never completed a league double over the Red Devils.

• Manchester United won eight of their first 11 away Premier League games against Crystal Palace (D3) but are winless in their past three (D2 L1).

• Crystal Palace have won both of their past two Premier League games at Selhurst Park - they last won three in a row at home in the competition in October 2022. The Eagles have won as many of their five home Premier League games under Oliver Glasner this season (W3 D1 L1) as their 12 such matches under Roy Hodgson beforehand in 2023-24 (W3 D3 L6).

• Manchester United have shipped 77 goals in 47 games all competitions this season - their most in a season since 1977-78 (80). Their current ratio of conceding (1.64 goals-per-game) is their worst since the 1962-63 campaign (1.75 per game).

• Jean-Phillippe Mateta has scored in each of his five home Premier League appearances under Oliver Glasner (seven goals), having only netted in five out of his first 37 home matches for Crystal Palace beforehand (five goals). The last player to score in his first six home appearances under one manager in the competition was Alan Shearer for Kevin Keegan in 1996-97 (first nine).

• In April, Bruno Fernandes created 31 chances in his six appearances in all competitions for Manchester United - seven more than any other Premier League player. He created nine chances in each of his past two Premier League appearances (against Sheffield United and Burnley) and became the only player on record to create nine or more chances in consecutive matches (2003-04 onwards).

Crystal Palace play Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday and the Eagles head into the match on a four-game unbeaten run.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has spoken to the media and here are his main lines from his news conference:

• Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi are fit for the match. They have both trained with the team in the past two days.

• On Guehi's quality, Glasner said: "I saw it before, I saw him playing. I mentioned before I saw him working, his working attitude is outstanding. He has a lot of quality but also is very professional. We will support him as good as we can that he plays some good games for us and also for England in the Euros."

• On the futures of Guehi and Palace's best players: "I'm always optimistic as all these players have contracts with Crystal Palace. It's May and many situations can change. Nothing is 100% but he's under contract, he's a good player, he's our captain so I'm very positive and confident that he plays for Crystal Palace."

• Glasner said of Manchester United: "I expect a lot of quality. Erik ten Hag did a fantastic job at Ajax. Last year they [United] won a cup. Great manager, great team. They suffered from many injuries this season but they still have a lot of offensive quality. With respect, but we go for the win."

• On Palace's four-match unbeaten run, Glasner said: "We hope that we can keep this momentum. It is up to us how we work during the week. The players could relax for four days and yesterday we started preparing. They look ready, I could see how focused they are in training. We're four games unbeaten and the goal is staying unbeaten until the end of the season."

Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes has had his deal extended by one year after he triggered an appearance clause.

Hughes, 29, was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, but after featuring 31 times he has secured his Eagles future until 2025.

The central midfielder has enjoyed an extended run in the side, starting the past six games, as Palace have put together a four-match unbeaten run under Oliver Glasner.

He joined Palace from Watford in 2021 for a fee of £6m, although it was a deal that could rise to £10m with add-ons.

Palace have already secured their Premier League and host Manchester United on Monday (20:00 BST kick-off).

It may be odd to see pictures of a Premier League manager at an NBA basketball match and think that it means preparations are starting for the next season.

But for Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner, that is exactly what it means.

The Eagles manager was seen courtside at the NBA play-off match between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, sitting next to chairman Steve Parish and co-owner Josh Harris.

Harris owns the 76ers with partner David Blitzer, who also owns a stake in Palace with their Harris and Blitzer entertainment business.

Before this season, Roy Hodgson was only confirmed as the manager on 3 July, meaning that planning of signings of players and his training plans started later in the summer.

However, with the Eagles safe and Glasner having a very particular way he wants his team to play and players he wants to sign, Palace can start putting things into place ahead of what could be an exciting season.

Following a week where talk of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise's transfer valuations made headlines, it was fitting that Crystal Palace had another glimpse of what life after Eze could look like against Fulham.

Oliver Glasner has repeatedly knocked back any questions regarding the future of his squad, indicating that any discussions would certainly wait until after a week in which they played three matches.

Past summers have had repeated re-signings of veteran players in the squad, essentially on unofficial rolling contracts. However, thus far, only Jordan Ayew has officially been extended through to the 2024-25 season.

If potential first-team sales are one domino waiting to fall, the decision on the out-of-contract players will also dictate how much cover the club will need to sign and any wage budget savings.

While players like Will Hughes and Joel Ward are thought to have options within their deals, others have more uncertainty, but few seem to be on the proverbial chopping block, as once thought.

A reimagined Nathaniel Clyne, now playing as a wide centre-back, has also added merit to his cause where the more conventional wing back role may no longer have suited him.

Saturday's goalscorer Jeffrey Schlupp, much like Ayew, has long been earmarked as an ideal rotational player or substitute, only to be called upon as a starter more often than expected.

Especially now in an era of five substitutes, and with a manager more likely to use them, transitioning such players to backups can be viewed as strengthening the squad, even if other starters arrive nominally to 'replace' them.

Despite the challenging predicament of the club on Glasner's arrival, the squad's character wasn't under question. Senior players help set the tone on the training ground, and it seems ever more likely that core will remain intact as Palace turn their eye to the summer's plans.

Premier League clubs have voted in favour of adopting an anchoring economic model, which will be linked to the earnings of the bottom club (tv and prize money).

The proposed system would operate like a spending cap.

The next stage is final analysis and drafting of rules, which will potentially be put to clubs at an AGM in June.

The model will be presented to clubs and - should clubs vote in favour then - it will replace the Profit and Sustainability Rules currently in place, from the 2025-26 season onwards.

Any new element of the financial system would come in shadow next season, to fully replace PSR in 2025-26.

“We will obviously wait to see further details of these specific proposals, but we have always been clear that we would oppose any measure that would place a ‘hard’ cap on player wages," said the PFA

“There is an established process in place to ensure that proposals like this, which would directly impact our members, have to be properly consulted on.”

Aston Villa, Manchester City and Manchester United opposed the vote, with Chelsea abstaining.

Mario: It was disappointing that yet again we allowed three points to slip away. Overall, some of the performances were poor but we can only hope that, as we move into the transfer market, we can improve the squad for next year's campaign.

Will: A draw was probably the fair result but it is always painful to concede in late fashion. Muniz back on the scoresheet, which is great. Hopefully we can get a big derby win next week.

Palace fans

Allen: We would have lost this game a couple of months ago. The desire to work for each other, and the manager, is now obvious. It is a 'never say die' attitude. Another high pressing first half meant that we dominated the show, and we could have gone in two or three goals up. Encouraging signs for next season. Wharton looks a steal.

Nigel: Palace failed to take advantage of Fulham’s messy start and then conceded a good goal. We looked tired from their three previous wins, but the substitution of Schlupp made up for it, with a great goal. A draw was the right result.

Tony: I think that with the chances they had, Palace should have been ahead at half-time. However, credit to Fulham who were the better team in the second half and scored a well-worked goal. Schlupp's rocket hit secured the draw, which I think Palace deserved. Overall, a draw was a fair result.

Sam: I will readily admit that, having seen such stellar performances from the lads recently, I was expecting a more comfortable game. The fact is, however, that a point should be taken with gratitude, no matter our form. I suspect that next season, we will need to take these with some satisfaction!

He might not score often, in fact there were 175 days between his two Premier League strikes this season, but Jeffrey Schlupp rescued a point for Crystal Palace in sensational style.

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno was helpless as Schlupp's 25-yard stunner flew into the top corner in the 88th minute.

Schlupp has scored at least two goals in each of his last six league campaigns for the Eagles and they don't get much better than this one.

Palace are unbeaten in four league games and have scored 11 goals in their last five games.

They were without Eberechi Eze, but fellow talisman Michael Olise started in his place and made a decent impact. He has two low shots saved and his free-kick into a dangerous area was headed over Chris Richards.

Oliver Glasner's side host Manchester United on 6 May (20:00 BST) and will be confident of providing more entertainment in front of their fans at Selhurst Park in the penultimate home game of the season.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been speaking to BBC Match of the Day following the game: "At the end, maybe the result is OK. I'm really pleased with the performance, a totally deserved point that we got today. I'm pleased and I really appreciate it.

"The feeling is that we were the better team. It was the third game in six days and we cleared staying in the Premier League.

"The players had a lot of power at the end. They wanted to get this point and we got the reward with an amazing goal from Jeffrey Schlupp. Again, very good from all of our substitutes. [There was] New energy on the pitch and we are happy that we take the point."

On Jeffrey Schlupp's goal: "We know that Jeffrey has a fantastic finish, we see it in training. But, again, it was very hard work today.

"The players did really well but now they deserve to have some days off and then [we will be] preparing for the finish of the Premier League."
